Red Hot Science: micro:bats

Jan 30, 2023  |  1:00-2:30 PM

Children

Use technology and coding to mimic bats’ echolocation abilities.

Participants will explore how to use technology to mimic the unique echo location capabilities of different mammals like whales, dolphins, and, of course, bats. Using a micro:bit processor and its associated ultra sonic sensor, the participants will learn block coding skills to write a small program to measure distance using echo location concepts.

This program is for kids in grades 5-8.

These programs are facilitated by Red Deer Polytechnic`s Red Hot Science youth outreach program.
Red Hot Science is a proud network member of Actua, and is thankful to provide these workshops with their support.
These workshops are part of the CanCode program made possible through funding from the Government of Canada.

Space is limited and limited to children in grades 5-8; please register by calling Nicole at 780-672-4214 or email cpltechhelp@prl.ab.ca.
